What's it all about?

40 nights for the orphans of India. My 'Lent in a Tent' is about raising hugely needed funds for 'Shining Faces in India' orphanage in Salem, Tamil Nadhu, by sleeping ouside the Chaplaincy at King's Bruton for 40 nights. My target is at least £10,000 - which amazingly is only enough to feed the hundreds of children there for about two months.

I hope that many might be inspired to trade 40 pounds for my 40 nights. Actually, in the back of my mind I'm convinced that we could smash through the target and go much much further ... I wonder.

First night in ... evening1/40

Tent's up, bedding in place ... getting very excited for night one! My wife says it's going to dip to -1 tonight so it'll be a good little check-up on how warm the kit is.  I'm thinking I'm going to be pretty toasty.

What I DO know is that as I type this it's already half past midnight in the orphanage and Girija and her friends will be lying on their mats on a concrete floor fast asleep. When it's MY midnight they'll be 30mins from waking and getting on with another hot day. More about them over my 40 nights ...
